Scott R. Whitaker is a Principal and founding Partner of Building Envelope Consultants, Inc. He was formerly the founder and President of Pondicherry Stone & Design as well as Director of Masonry Preservation Operations with a New England-based architectural firm.

After graduating from college with an engineering degree, Scott has focused his career on masonry related construction. He has specialized in designing repairs to historic masonry structures as well as newer buildings for 27 years. Scott has built his reputation as a leading masonry consultant by solving complicated design flaws in masonry construction while guiding masons, engineers, owners, and architects through the stages of repairing and preserving buildings. Scott continues to specialize in the forensic analysis and diagnosis of envelope issues as well as the specification and oversight of appropriate remedial actions. He provides a full range of Project Management and Construction Administration services.

Scott has consulted on many significant buildings for the United States General Services Administration, The Park Service, state and local governments across the United States and Caribbean. Companies such as Nabisco, Poland Spring, and the Richmond Canal Authority have depended on Scott's knowledge and expertise. He has authored guidelines and procedures for the refurbishing of building envelopes, has been invited to lecture on masonry related topics, and has appeared on the web as well television. He has also been featured in the March 2002 issue of Stone Magazine as well as recognized by a past United States president for consulting excellence. In 2008 and 2009, his projects were recognized by the State of Maine for Excellence in Preservation.
